NJCU’s radio station the WGKR has been inactive for a few years now. Unfortunately

NJCU no longer has rights to the WGKR signal. The school doesn’t have the funding to get it

back; it’s almost impossible to get the radio up and running again.

Have no fear—there’s another alternative. We are planning to make a podcast in the

absence of the WGKR.

The podcast will look to have segments similar to a radio station and will be community

driven. People can contact us with suggestions to talk about, questions, advice, etc. This podcast

will feature NJCU staff as well as students to voice their thoughts. This will give everyone

insight on what is currently going on at the school.

The podcast will have different segments. Some will be informative, while others will be

entertaining. The segments will cover a wide variety of topics ranging from current day news to

interviews to comedic rants and much more. We will do promoting for people as well, such as

promoting clubs, events, or even local talents.

This will be a source of news along with the Gothic Times. Not only will it inform, but

also entertain. It will appeal to most, if not all audiences. The podcast will act as a secondary

voice for the students.

The podcast will launch in the fall semester. It’s time to create something new for

students, by students.
