Another year, another semester! Before us are nights that lack sleep along with endless self-reflection. This year I decided to take a different approach to my worries. As a way to blow off some steam, I thought about getting myself a reading from a psychic but needed some opinions from my fellow peers first.
“I like psychics,” said Steffany Ojeda, 22, illustration major from Jersey City. “I don’t think everyone who [claims they have psychic abilities] is a psychic but every so often one comes along who knows a thing or two.”
Alternatively, I considered the male perspective.
“It’s fair as long as the [psychics] are legit and you don’t use them to gain a certain advantage over anyone else’s life but your own,” said 23-year-old alumni Lionel Emabat from Jersey City.
To answer this question once and for all I set up an interview with a real self-proclaimed psychic.
I stepped through the glass door feeling overwhelmed and anxious for what was to come. I stepped into a narrow hallway and on my right; a dark and weathered wooden door spelled out ‘Spiritual Reader’ in gold letters. The place where a bell looked to have once rested was a vacant dismantled knot of metal. So I knocked three times.
Finally, I heard some rummaging inside. A black and white spotted cat emerged and ran off almost simultaneously as I looked down and when I lifted my head up I was greeted by a pair of slightly disheveled eyes barely open. In front of me stood a plain clothed lady.
Forty-five year old Madam Rosa from North Bergen has spent most of her life as a personal “vessel to the spiritual world.” Out of curiosity I bluntly questioned her choice of occupation.
“In Hungary, I was refrained from using [my abilities],” said Madam Rosa as she depicted her foreign origin. “Here [in the U.S, psychic ability], is accepted. I believe those that come to me, come out feeling better than when they walked in.”
There are things that happen in life that often cannot be explained and much like our advisors that guide us in our classes; it is a spiritual guidance that makes us work towards our ultimate goals in life. Being happy with our future career and endeavors is what many of us look forward to succeeding and for many of us, psychics just happen to be the little push in the right direction.
To quench your curiosity, would you go see a psychic?

I totally agree with you. They are our spirits who show us a way specialy when we are lost. And yeah some psychic are really good and they can translate those messages from our spirits. I found my self a good psychic, but there are bunch of fake ones. So wish you all good luck with finding a good one. Holly
